his life, Chat Kiat has been a quick
learner. With less than a year's experience as the owner
of a cleaning franchise, he was recruited by national
management to help train other franchisees. His work
with newcomers demonstrated principles of operating
a business, including techniques of recruiting help,
purchasing supplies, and principles of business management
that had worked for him.
Chat recognized
the vast potential that exists in the cleaning industry
- but believed there was a better system. By eliminating
some of the obstacles to success that existed in the
business plan of the national chain, he believed he
could design a system that would empower franchises.
His
vision of how a cleaning franchise should operate was
one that would emphasize accessibility to management,
while stressing high franchise retention, more through
employee screening practices, and a franchise-friendly
fee structure.
